General Motors will begin rolling out its next-generation of electric vehicles in 2021, and it seeks to to reach its goal of offering 20 such vehicles by 2023, CEO Mary Barra told investors on Wednesday.
GM is "committed to a future electric vehicle portfolio that will be profitable," Barra said at the Barclays Global Automotive Conference in New York, reports Reuters.
The company is also targeting 2021 as the date it would put an autonomous vehicle into commercial service.
In early October, GM said it planned to launch 20 new electric vehicles by 2023. Ford has said it plans to introduce 13 electrified vehicles, mostly gasoline-electric hybrids, by 2022.
