GM to Increase Light Truck Production in 1st Quarter 2003
General Motors Corp. said on Dec. 6 that it will go ahead as planned and increase light-truck production in the first quarter.
General Motors Corp. said on Dec. 6 that it will go ahead as planned and increase light-truck production in the first quarter. GM, the world’s largest automaker, plans to raise North American light-truck production from first quarter 2002 by 12 percent to 840,000.
GM is “pretty comfortable with our inventories right now,” said John Smith, who will become the company's group vice president of sales and marketing on Jan. 1, 2003. “I don’t feel uncomfortable on the truck side,” Smith added.
GM plans to increase combined North American production of cars and trucks by 3.5 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier.
