GM to Build New EV in Michigan
General Motors will invest $300 million in its Orion Assembly plant outside of Detroit to produce a new battery-electric vehicle at the same plant that builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Chevrolet Sonic.

General Motors will invest $300 million in its Orion Assembly plant outside of Detroit to produce a new battery-electric vehicle at the same plant that builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Chevrolet Sonic.
The investment will add 400 jobs to the plant, which is located in Orion Township.
GM's new EV will be "designed and engineered off an advanced version" of the Bolt EV. GM will release additional details closer to the start of production.
"We are excited to bring these jobs and this investment to the U.S.," said Mary Barra, GM's chairman and CEO. "This new Chevrolet electric vehicle is another positive step toward our commitment to an all-electric future. GM will continue to invest in our U.S. operations where we see opportunities for growth."
