DETROIT– In a statement promising General Motors' "strong commitment" to fleet and commercial customers "remains unchanged," Jim Campbell, GM general manager fleet and commercial operations, addressed the automaker's June 1 bankruptcy filing.

"GM plans to leverage an expedited, court-supervised process to accelerate the reinvention of our company," Campbell's statement said. The company expects the process "will enable us to rapidly implement key business requirements on a clearly laid out path to accomplish GM's renewal."

Specifically, Campbell said the automaker intends to:

  • Continue vehicle production as outlined in previously communicated schedules.

  • Honor warranty commitments given at the time of purchase to owners of current and future GM products.

  • Continue available service for all brands through authorized GM service facilities, with genuine GM parts.

GM will continue to offer Chevy, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC fleet products, Campbell said.

GM filed for bankruptcy early Monday, as the federal government finalizes plans to lend the company $30 billion to fund operations during its reorganization. According to CNNMoney, President Obama and GM CEO Fritz Henderson both promised a more viable GM will emerge from bankruptcy.
