General Motors is recalling 17,197 2016- and 2017-model year Chevrolet Cruze cars because the head restraints may malfunction, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
A bracket used in the driver or front passenger seat-back recliner mechanism may have been incorrectly welded to the seat-back frame, NHTSA said. As a result, the head restraints may not perform properly during a crash and the seat-back frames might break. This condition increases the risk of injury to occupants.
