General Motors is investing $133 million to add a third stamping press at its Wentzville Assembly and Stamping plant in Missouri, which builds GM’s full-size vans and which GM is preparing to build its next-generation mid-size pickup trucks, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.
The automaker said the new stamping press will increase the Wentzville plant’s capacity to stamp fenders, doors, and other components for the mid-size pickups and full-size vans. This $133 million investment builds on the $380 million the company has invested in the plant already to prepare to build the new mid-size pickup trucks.
GM's Mark Reuss said in April that the automaker plans to bring its all-new mid-size pickups to market in 2014. He also said they have all-new designs rather than updates to existing model designs.
