General Motors and Ford Motor Co. provided the most value to light-duty fleet vehicle purchasers, according to Vincentric's Best Fleet Value in America awards for 2014.

Ford/Lincoln and GM's Chevrolet/Buick/GMC nameplates won eight awards, as the research firm announced the winners of its ninth annual awards in 39 categories on April 7. Other multiple-award winners included Toyota and Nissan with five awards and Chrysler with four category wins.

"As manufacturers increase their focus on providing vehicles that meet fleet customer needs while at the same time reducing lifecycle costs, we're seeing that low cost-of-ownership isn't something that only a few manufacturers can tout," said David Wurster, Vincentric's president. "We see our awards and leadership in lifecycle cost measurement as a resource that can help fleet buyers make knowledgeable decisions regarding which fleet vehicle is best aligned with their organizational goals, strategies, and budget."

Vincentric gives its Best Fleet Value awards for 15 passenger cars, 12 sport utilities and crossovers, four pickup trucks, and eight vans.

In the passenger car category, Ford/Lincoln and Toyota each nabbed three awards. Ford's winners included the Focus SE for compact hatchback, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid for hybrid premium mid-size sedan, and Taurus SE with the 2.0L EcoBoost for large sedan.

Ford also won the most awards (three) among SUVs and crossovers with the base front-wheel-drive Explorer with the 2.0L EcoBoost; rear-wheel-drive Expedition XLT for large SUV; and rear-wheel-drive Lincoln Navigator for premium large SUV.

GM's pickup trucks took two of the four pickup truck categories as the GMC Sierra 2500 with crew cab, rear-wheel drive and long wheelbase won 3/4-ton pickup; and the GMC Sierra 3500 with regular cab, rear-wheel drive, long wheelbase, and SRW trim level won for one-ton pickup.

Nissan's awards included the Versa Note S Plus for subcompact car, Versa S Plus for compact sedan, Xterra X with rear-wheel drive for compact SUV, Pathfinder S with rear-wheel drive for mid-size SUV, and NV200 S for mini-commercial van.

Toyota's awards included the Prius C One for compact hybrid, Camry L for mid-size sedan, Camry Hybrid LE for hybrid mid-size sedan, RAV4 LE with front-wheel drive for mid-level compact crossover, and the base Tacoma with double cab and rear-wheel drive for compact pickup.
