GM Confirms Chevrolet Bolt EV Production

General Motors will build its Chevrolet Bolt battery-electric vehicle at the company's Orion Assembly facility near Detroit, the automaker confirmed on Feb. 12 at the Chicago Auto Show. GM debuted a concept Bolt EV in January.
Start of production and additional details will be announced later, according to Alan Batey, president over GM's North American operation. GM plans to begin production of the Bolt EV in October 2016, and the vehicle is expected to go on sale in early 2017, according to an earlier Reuters report citing two supplier sources.
GM unveiled the Bolt EV concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The automaker plans to offer the Bolt EV, which has a 200-mile driving range, for around $30,000.
