WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Gillig Corp. is recalling about 2,000 2001-2009 Phantom transit buses equipped with Lift-U wheelchair lifts.
The outboard ramp barrier poses a possible safety risk to passengers; it may fold in toward a lift passenger, possibly injuring the passenger's feet, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Gillig will notify bus owners, and Lift-U will make the repairs free of charge.
