GREENSBORO, NC – Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Coulomb Technologies have partnered to lead development and commercialization of products that will enable the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
Gilbarco exhibited Coulomb Technologies’ Smartlet Charging Station at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) show, Oct. 4–7, 2008, at McCormick Place in Chicago.
“Gilbarco Veeder-Root offers the industry’s leading sales, distribution and service channels for retail and fleet fueling equipment with their Gilbarco and Gasboy brands,” said Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies. “This partnership leverages Gilbarco’s expertise and payment products to provide retailers and fleet operators the best clean air technology, sales and support network for building the alternative-fuel infrastructure they will need for the future.”
Campbell Calif.-based Coulomb Technologies has developed a complete smart charging solution for plug-in vehicles. The company’s Smartlet Charging Stations are individually controlled through the wireless Smartlet Communications Network and the ChargePoint Network Operating System. Smartlet Charging Stations perform bi-directional energy metering and control, user authentication, and 802.15.4 wireless local area network technology, which enable a subscription model through communication with a data center.
“Supporting the development of a recharging infrastructure for the transportation industry is important to us and our customers,” said Richard Browne, Gilbarco’s vice president of marketing for North America. “This partnership expands our industry-leading portfolio of equipment for alternative fuels.”
