TORRANCE, CA – At the 2012 Green Fleet Conference, the Oct. 2, Tuesday, keynote address will feature Joanna Wellington, Technology Leader, Sustainable Energy, from the GE Research Center. Her presentation is titled “A Look Forward: Where Will the Road to Sustainability Take Us?”

Wellington’s research focuses on sustainable energy and water solutions. Specific research focus areas include renewables, carbon management, energy efficiency, smart grid enhancements, and low cost water solutions.

Wellington has 20 years of experience in the energy field. She joined GE Power Systems in 1992 as a combustion design engineer. In 1998, wellington joined GE’s Power Generation Laboratory, first as Technical Leader then as Lab Manager. Wellington then joined the company’s Quality Organization in 2000 as a Master Blackbelt.

In 2002 Wellington accepted the role of General Manager, Accessory Systems Engineering and in 2004; she became the General Manager for the Generator & Electrical Systems Engineering Department. In March of 2010, Wellington joined the Research Center in her current role as Advanced Technology Leader for Sustainable Energy.

Wellington earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College in 1992 and a Masters in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1998.
