SAVANNAH, GA - Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue on June 4 signed into law legislation that bans texting while driving on the state's roads.
Called Caleb's Law, Senate Bill 360 was named after a Dahlonega teen who died in a December car crash while texting behind the wheel, WSAV TV News reported.
Georgia joins 27 other states in banning text messaging by all drivers, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Beginning July 1, drivers caught reading, writing or sending any text message, including e-mails, face a $150 fine and a point on their driver's license.
