China’s Geely Holding Group has licensed use of its pure-electric Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) to ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer backed by the Polish government.

EMP plans to develop several EV models for its Izera brand using the scalable SEA modular electric platform, beginning with a compact SUV and two other future models: a C-segment station wagon and a hatchback. The platform provides a software framework and a wheelbase capable of expanding from 5.9 ft to 10.8 ft.

Geely Holding will also become a technology partner to the first series of Izera models. The Izera vehicles will be produced at the EMP plants in Jaworzno, southern Poland.

“In the long run, this technology partnership will allow EMP to thrive, allowing us to heavily engage local suppliers and execute the project within the envisaged business framework,” said Piotr Zaremba, EMP CEO.

The agreement marks an expansion of the SEA architectural beyond Geely’s own portfolio. The architecture covers hardware, comprehensive software and digital ecosystem.

“Poland plays an important role in the European automotive industry, and this licensing agreement will help speed up the transition to electric vehicles and the creation of a wider EV economy,” said Daniel Donghui Li, Geely Holding Group CEO.

EMP intends to build its first vehicles based on the SEA architecture at its fully owned and operated manufacturing plants in Jaworzno, southern Poland.
