The national average for regular unleaded as of Wednesday, June 23, was $1.93 a gallon, up 43 cents from the national average the same day a year ago, according to the American Automobile Association.
The national average for regular unleaded as of Wednesday, June 23, was $1.93 a gallon, up 43 cents from the national average the same day a year ago, according to the American Automobile Association. Other highs and lows for June 23:
Highest state average price for regular unleaded: Hawaii $2.33, compared to $2.03 the same day last year.
Lowest state average price for regular unleaded: Missouri $1.74, compared to $1.39 the same day last year.
Highest price for a gallon of regular unleaded: $2.99 in Bridgeport, Calif.
Lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded: $1.53 in St. Genevieve, Mo. The averages are provided by AAA, of Heathrow, Fla., which monitors credit card transactions at 60,000 self-serve gasoline stations nationwide. The automobile club posts the averages on its Web site, www.fuelgaugereport.com. www.GasPriceWatch.com of Dayton, Ohio, which gathers more than 70,000 prices submitted by spotters nationwide, reports the highest and lowest prices in the country. www.autonews.com will update gasoline prices in the United States twice each week throughout the summer.
