TROY, Mich. --- Radar Safety Technologies (RST) is introducing its new FrontAlert Collision Alert System (CAS) for the commercial vehicle market. The system is designed to detect hazards in a vehicle's path and alert the driver of a potential collision.

The FrontAlert CAS will become available in the second quarter of this year. The system features advanced radar-based technology that is based on safe braking distance. FrontAlert CAS calculates your vehicle speed, distance to the object, closing speed between your vehicle and the object, and alerts you of a threat or non-threat driving situation.

The FrontAlert CAS driver display unit illuminates a green light indicating the system is active. When a yellow light illuminates on the driver display, an object has been detected in front of the driver's vehicle. No action is needed by the driver. When a red light and an alert tone activates, FrontAlert CAS is alerting the driver to take caution, decelerate, brake or take safe evasive action to avoid a collision.

Once corrective action has been taken by the driver, FrontAlert CAS resumes normal non-threat status.  

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a staggering 93 percent of crashes involve driver error. NHTSA research shows that one second of alerting could prevent up to 90 percent of rear-end collisions.
