FRESNO, CA --- Three Fresno police officers are facing charges that they stole cars that were meant to have been impounded, KMPH Channel 26 News reported.
FRESNO, CA --- Three Fresno police officers are facing charges that they stole cars that were meant to have been impounded, KMPH Channel 26 News reported.
The men -- Officer Robert Eddings, Officer Paul Cervantes and Detective Hector Becerra -- have been charged with auto theft. The arrests came after a months-long investigation by the HEAT (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) Task Force.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer told KMPH News that the investigation involved undercover officers who had an auto-body business on the side.
Becerra and Cervantes, who were arrested in January by the California Highway Patrol, are part of the Fresno Police Department's Major Narcotics Unit. They are scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 17, according to KFSN Channel 7 News.
Eddings was arrested this month.
