Ford vehicles made up one-third of the list of vehicles best for families that was recently compiled by Parents magazine and AAA. The list picked three vehicles in five categories: sedans, wagons, economy vehicles, SUVs, and minivans. The Volvo V70 and the Ford Taurus wagon were named in the Wagon category. The Taurus wagon was noted for its dual-stage air bags and pedal extenders, while the Volvo V70 wagon made the list because of its standard side-curtain air bags and room to haul kids and gear. The Mazda Protégé was chosen in the economy category, describing the vehicles as "perfect for new parents who aren’t ready to give up their youth." The Ford Expedition and Volvo XC90 were both named to the SUV list, while the Ford Windstar and Dodge Grand Caravan were selected to the Minivan list.
