Ford to Test EVs in Germany
DEARBORN, MI --- Ford Motor Co. will launch a two-year test program of electric-powered Focus cars and Transit Connect vans in Germany this week, Bloomberg reported.

The 25 vehicles in the test will be driven under normal traffic conditions in Cologne, where Ford's European division is based, Ford's Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer told the news agency. Dudenhoeffer is director of the Center for Automotive Research at Germany's University of Duisburg-Essen, which is in charge of the 15 million-euro ($22 million) research project. The drivers will include researchers and customers chosen by Ford.
Utility RheinEnergie AG will provide vehicle-charging stations for the test, which is being financed by the German government's economic-stimulus package, Dudenhoeffer told Bloomberg.
