Ford Recalls F-150 Trucks for Brake Fluid Leaks
Dealers will replace brake master cylinders in more than 225,000 2013-2014-MY pickup trucks in the U.S.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 225,012 2013-2014 model-year Ford F-150 pickup trucks in the U.S. to replace the brake master cylinders.
In some vehicles, brake effectiveness might be reduced because of brake fluid leaking from the brake master cylinder into the brake booster. This condition increases the risk of a crash, Ford said in a released statement. But such brake fluid leaks affect brakes to the front wheels only and don't diminish rear wheel braking.
Ford noted it’s aware of nine alleged accidents with no injuries, and one alleged injury involving the vehicle’s brakes but not associated with an accident.
Recalled vehicles include trucks equipped with 3.5-liter GTDI engines built at Dearborn Truck Plant from Aug. 1, 2013, through Aug. 22, 2014, as well as trucks built at Kansas City Assembly Plant from Aug. 1, 2013, through Aug. 31, 2014.
In addition to the trucks in the U.S., Ford is also recalling 43,682 F-150 trucks in Canada and 402 in Mexico for the same problem.
To remedy the issue, Ford dealers will replace the brake master cylinder. They will also replace the brake booster if they find leaks from the brake master cylinder. There will be no charge for these services.
