Ford is recalling approximately 29,344 model-year 2021 E-Series vehicles in the U.S. due to potential mispositioned insulation on the underside of the engine cover that could cause extreme heat from the engine compartment, which may burn vehicle passengers, according to Ford.
This safety recall is for select E-Series vehicles for 7.3-liter engine cover thermal management in which mispositioned insulation may not fully extend to the vehicle’s perimeter, and could create elevated temperatures on the passenger compartment surface of the engine cover, the automaker said. Direct and continuous contact with certain areas of the surface of the engine cover in the passenger compartment may cause burns to the skin of the driver or front passenger.
