Ford Motor Co. is recalling 300 replacement steering gears installed on 2011-2012 model-year Explorers as service parts in September 2013 and January 2014. These gears might lock and cause steering difficulty, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
To remedy the problem, Ford dealers will replace these steering gears. There will be no charge for this service.
Vehicle owners can reach Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 13S14.
