Ford F-750 to Cut Back on Fuel with New Hybrid System
INDIANAPOLIS – The Ford F-750 will be able to lower fuel use while reducing emissions and operating more quietly at the work site, thanks to a new hybrid power plug-in system by Odyne Systems, a manufacturer of hybrid systems for medium- and heavy-duty work trucks.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Ford F-750 will be able to lower fuel use while reducing emissions and operating more quietly at the work site, thanks to a new hybrid power plug-in system by Odyne Systems, a manufacturer of hybrid systems for medium- and heavy-duty work trucks.
Odyne is showcasing its new advanced hybrid propulsion system, which is designed to interface with a wide variety of truck mounted equipment, at the NTEA (National Truck Equipment Association) show this week in Indianapolis. The Ford F-750 plug-in hybrid will be on display at the Ford booth. The hybrid propulsion system will also be available in a stationary display at the Ride and Drive event powering a Vanair compressor truck.
Odyne’s plug-in hybrid truck system maximizes fuel efficiency and power while driving by using a rugged Remy electric motor in parallel with the existing drivetrain to provide launch assist and regenerative braking. At the job site, the Odyne hybrid plug-in battery system, featuring Johnson Controls’ lithium-ion battery packs, powers typical work site applications with the engine off for a much longer time than other commercially available large truck hybrid systems, according to the manufacturer.
