Ford Explorer, Police Interceptor SUVs Recalled
The recall covers nearly 213,000 2011-2013 model-year SUVs that may have an interior door handle problem.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 212,911 2011-2013 Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor Utility vehicles in North America, so dealers can address a potential interior door handle problem, the automaker said.
The problem stems from the spring that controls the interior door handles. If the spring is unseated, the door may become unlatched in a side-impact crash, increasing the risk of injury. Ford noted, however, the company isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition. The recalled vehicles were built at the Chicago Assembly Plant.
A total of 194,484 of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S. and federalized territories, while 12,392 are in Canada. Another 6,035 are in Mexico.
Dealers will inspect all four interior door handle assemblies and repair or replace the handles as needed. There will be no charge for this service.
