Ford Builds 2 Millionth EcoBoost Engine
Ford has hit a new manufacturing milestone, having built its 2 millionth EcoBoost engine since its launch in 2009.

Ford has hit a new manufacturing milestone, having built its 2 millionth EcoBoost engine, sold in vehicles all over the world, since its launch in 2009. The vehicle that received the milestone engine was a new Ford Escape that rolled off the assembly line at Ford’s Louisville, Ky., plant last week.
In North America, Ford revealed a number of facts associated with EcoBoost engine production, including that 90 percent of Ford Escape models are equipped with 1.6L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines, that 50 percent of Ford Fusion customers select one of three EcoBoost engines (1.5L, 1.6L, or 2.0L), and that customers purchase 42 percent of F-150 pickup trucks with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Ford added that this year, EcoBoost engines will be available on more than 90 percent of North American nameplates, and that this figure will rise to 95 percent by 2015.
To meet demand for its 2.0L EcoBoost engine, Ford is investing nearly $200 million to build the engine at its Cleveland, Ohio, engine plant, and plans to start production there in 2014.
