AMECO, the fleet management and construction support unit of Fluor Corporation announced on December 1 that it has been awarded a $40-million contract to provide fleet management services to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo). JPSCo is the sole distributor of electricity in Jamaica. Under the five-year contract AMECO will acquire, manage and maintain JPSCo’s existing 550-plus-unit fleet, which includes vehicles, vans and construction equipment. “AMECO is very pleased to partner with JPSCo to bring a comprehensive solution to their fleet management needs,” said Gary Bernardez, president of AMECO. “This relationship with JPSCo expands our presence in Jamaica and adds to our experience in the power industry.” JPSCo President & CEO, Charles Matthews, said the new partnership with AMECO was a significant element of his company’s efforts to improve operational efficiencies. “This contract will help us to reduce our costs, and will also allow us to focus more on our core functions of electricity generation and delivery,” he said.
