Fleet Safety Video Tip: Seat Positioning
During winter driving conditions, it’s even more critical for drivers to ensure they’re properly positioned in their seat to maintain optimal steering control and visibility. Here are tips from AAA.

VIDEO: Adjusting Seats and Steering Wheels
During winter driving conditions, it’s even more critical for drivers to ensure they’re properly positioned in their seat to maintain optimal steering control and visibility.
According to AAA, the right seat position and use of safety equipment – safety belts and anti-glare sunglasses included – will help drivers perform the smooth, precise movements needed for safe winter driving.
Drivers should adjust the seat so they sit no closer than 10 inches to the steering wheel and can see the road ahead. Remember, drivers need to allow plenty of room between their chest and the steering wheel air bag. Shorter drivers might need a seat cushion or pedal extension to ensure proper positioning. The line of sight should be at least 3 inches above the top of the steering wheel, AAA said.
Drivers should also be able to operate the pedals with the ball of their foot, without needing to stretch their leg or reach excessively with their foot, AAA added.
