Two fleet companies — fleet management software and solutions provider GPS Insight, as well as fleet management company Merchants Fleets — each announced being named a 2022 Sustainability Leadership Award winner by Business Intelligence Group in the 2022 Sustainability Awards program.
Merchants executives Brad Jacobs, VP of fleet consulting & product development, and Hari Nayar, VP of electrification & sustainability, were honored for their work on Merchants’ Fleet Electrification program. Over 5.2 million miles were driven by Merchants Fleet clients’ EV fleets in 2021, saving an estimated 1.4K metric tons of CO2. Merchants has committed $2.5 billion toward having its mobility fleet 50% electric by 2025, and 50% of its clients’ fleets electric by 2030.
“For any company with sustainability goals, fleet electrification is the quickest and easiest way to move the needle. The challenge is that most companies just don't know where to start” says Brendan P. Keegan, chairman, CEO, and president of Merchants Fleet. “We are extremely proud of the fleet electrification program that Brad, Hari and their teams have created, which provides a clear path to sustainability that will help propel our nation into an emission-free future.”
Gary Fitzgerald, CEO at GPS Insight, said: “GPS Insight aids fleet and field managers in lowering pollution levels through the adoption of easy-to-implement practices that lessen the use of fossil fuels and increase the efficiency of their fleets. To better serve the growing number of public and private fleets planning to adopt EV technology in the coming years, we have recently started working with strategic partners to integrate electric car and fleet vehicle performance into our fleet management solutions.”
Business Intelligence Group Sustainability Leadership Award nominations were submitted by for-profit and non-profit organizations of varying sizes to recognize teams, bring attention to organizations and initiatives, and highlight the outstanding achievements of leaders, in their pursuit to minimize the negative effects of their operations on the environment.
