Toronto-based telematics provider Fleet Complete will develop a connected fleet management software platform for OnStar-equipped General Motors vehicles under a new partnership with the manufacturer, the company has announced.
The platform would be offered to commercial fleets and small businesses in the U.S., according to the company. Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac vehicles from the 2015 model year and newer could be added to the platform.

Fleet Complete is building the product on its CONNVEX platform that can leverage embedded OnStar hardware. Fleets wouldn't have to sign a long-term contract, and the software could be easily activated.
"Connectivity is the future, and fleets of all sizes are rapidly embracing innovative, data-driven business solutions that can help them improve safety and reduce operating costs," said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of General Motors Fleet. "The combination of OnStar connectivity and our built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot opens the door for people to put very sophisticated software and analytical tools to work quickly and efficiently."
The system provides live vehicle tracking, enhanced diagnostics, speed monitoring, and trip analysis.
