Fisker Inc. has unveiled the Fisker EMotion luxury sedan prototype that looks to rival the Tesla Model S, and also revealed a solid-sate battery for electric vehicles that will look to provide more power and range than lithium-ion batteries.

The EMotion, which currently boasts a $130,000 price tag, will include a Level 4 autonomous driving system and offers a 400-mile range, which is 80 miles more than that of the Tesla Model S, Fisker announced at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It has a top speed of 161 mph and will be available in all-wheel drive. It features three driver-oriented Screens, with a center curved screen, and four electric adjustable seats.

Meanwhile, the solid-state battery revealed at the show will offer 2.5 times more of the energy density of lithium-ion batteries, and will enable ranges of more than 500 miles on a single charge and charging times as low as one minute, Fisker announced at CES 2018. Automotive applications for the battery are anticipated to be production grade ready sometime after 2020. Fisker also anticipates that the technology for personal electronics will be production ready by as earlier as sometime this year.

Solid-state batteries replace the volatile liquid of lithium-ion batteries with thin, solid material, the LA Times noted.

The Fisker EMotion, is slated to run on current battery technology, and will be produced in the United States at a location to be announced during the second half of 2018, according to the company.
