FCA Recalls Ram Trucks for Water Pump
The recall covers more than 443,000 Ram pickups and chassis cabs in the U.S. -- all in the 2013-2017 model years.

Fiat Chrysler is recalling an estimated 443,712 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups as well as 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs in the U.S. — all in the 2013-2017 model years — to address an issue involving their water pumps, the automaker said.
An FCA US investigation, prompted by customer feedback, revealed that certain trucks are equipped with a water-pump bearing that may overheat and potentially cause an engine-compartment fire. The water-pump bearing becomes vulnerable to overheating after exposure to certain conditions, the company said in released statement.
FCA US noted it isn’t aware of any related injuries or accidents. The company no longer equips its vehicles with this particular water pump.
If the water pump function is compromised in one of these trucks, a warning light might be activated in the instrument cluster. “Customers are urged to consult their dealers whenever they observe warning lights,” FCA US advised.
The recall is limited to trucks equipped with a 6.7-liter engine. In addition to the recalled trucks in the U.S., FCA is recalling an estimated 46,220 trucks in Canada and an estimated 4,485 trucks outside of North America for the same problem.
