FCA Recalls More Jeep Cherokee SUVs for Air Bags
The 2014-2015 model-year vehicles are at risk for inadvertent air bag deployment during rough, typically off-road driving conditions.

FCA US is expanding a previous recall to include an additional 62,148 Jeep Cherokees in the U.S. so dealers can upgrade the air bag software, the automaker said.
The Jeep Cherokee SUVs, in the 2014 and 2015 model years, are at risk for inadvertent air bag deployment during rough, typically off-road driving conditions. The air bag system might mistakenly sense a rollover crash and automatically activate.
Dealers will upgrade the software that governs side-curtain and seat-mounted side air bags, recalibrating the threshold for deployment. The vehicles will remain compliant with all applicable safety regulations, FCA said.
The new expansion of this Jeep Cherokee recall brings the nation’s total to 230,240 vehicles. Revised estimates for other markets include 28,110 in Canada, 6,367 in Mexico, and 52,057 outside the NAFTA region. The revised global total is 316,774 – a difference of 68,593.
