Explorer Van Co. is recalling 885 2013 model-year Explorer and Explorer Limited SE vehicles to address the risk of short circuit.

Explorer Van Co. is recalling 885 2013 model-year Explorer and Explorer Limited SE vehicles built on GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express chassis, manufactured Aug. 1, 2012, through April 9, 2013.

The wiring harness that powers the seat adjuster and the seat heating circuit may not be properly secured, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. As a result, the wiring harness may become lodged in the seat riser mechanism.This raises the risk of a short circuit, which poses a fire risk.

Explorer Van Co. dealers will secure the seat wiring harness. Any damaged ones will be replaced. These services will be completed free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 17.
