EV Replaces Battery With 'Flowcell' Technology

A German builder's "flow cell" technology powers the Quant e-Sportlimousine all-electric vehicle without the need for a battery, the company has announced.
The technology works like a combination of a battery and a fuel cell by using liquid electrolyte that's kept in two tanks and pumped through the cell. A membrane separates the two liquids, and a controlled exchange releases energy for the electric powertrain.
The vehicle, which has been approved for use on European roads, now exists only as a prototype. Nanoflowcell says its vehicle can reach 372 miles of range. It can reach 0-60 mph in about 2.8 seconds.
