Vision Fleet, a Los Angeles-based company that manages the largest deployment of electric vehicles in a public fleet in the U.S., has launched Evercar — a service for on-demand drivers who work for companies such as Uber, Lyft, Instacart, and Postmates.
Evercar seeks to help potential on-demand drivers who do not have access to a vehicle or don’t want to add miles to their personal vehicles. Drivers pay $5 per hour to rent a Nissan LEAF, which includes vehicle access, electricity, insurance, cleaning, parking, maintenance, and unlimited miles.
Vision Fleet and Evercar executives unveiled the new service, which has been in its first phase of operation since July, at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Evercar general manager Paul Hirsch said the company plans to expand the program to other Los Angeles locations through early 2016 and take the model nationwide before the end of next year.
