E.ON U.S. Deploys Fleet Management Software Hosting Services
WAYNE, PA – The Transportation Services division of E.ON U.S. plans and coordinates the repair, maintenance, and refueling of a 2,300-plus vehicle fleet.
WAYNE, PA – E.ON U.S. (EON) has launched its existing FleetFocus Fleet Maintenance Management software in AssetWorks' ASP Hosted Services Environment. AssetWorks is a fleet Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software and automated fuel systems provider.
EON owns and operates Louisville Gas and Electric Company, a regulated utility that serves 318,000 natural gas and 390,000 electric customers in Louisville and 16 surrounding counties, and Kentucky Utilities Company, a regulated electric utility in Lexington, Ky., serving 518,000 customers in 77 Kentucky counties and five counties in Virginia.
The Transportation Services of EON plans and coordinates the repair, maintenance, and refueling of a 2,300-plus vehicle fleet. A 17-year FleetFocus customer, the Transportation Services division has used the software to track equipment costs, utilization, fleet replacement, activity-based costs, comeback rate by technician, parent-child unit cost tracking, and even employee performance. All this information had been stored on and operated off EON's existing mainframe. When this mainframe was retired, EON sought a solution that would allow it to continue using the same fleet management software.
"The primary reason we chose the ASP plan was to allow us to get off of our mainframe so the company can retire it. The cost savings were achieved by reducing the need for internal IT support, inhouse mainframe maintenance cost, and all of the associated training expenses and learning curve," said Steve Ramser, contract manager, EON.
