STRATHMORE, ALBERTA, CANADA – Encana Natural Gas Inc., a subsidiary of Encana Corp., recently opened a compressed natural gas (CNG) station in Strathmore in southern Alberta. In addition, the company has opened its first natural gas fleet fueling station available for public use in Wyoming.
The Wyoming station, located at the Pit Stop Travel Center in Riverton, will serve the fueling needs of Encana’s natural gas fleet, the local Help for Health Hospice, Central Wyoming College and will be open to public use.
“Encana is leading by example as we convert our own vehicle fleets to natural gas and help build the necessary infrastructure to support its expanded use as an alternative fuel to gasoline or diesel,” said Randy Eresman, Encana’s president and CEO.
The Strathmore CNG station will fuel Encana’s growing fleet of natural gas-powered vehicles, which now has 39 trucks converted to run on natural gas in the company’s Clearwater business unit encompassing the Strathmore area. As of the end of September, Encana had 128 of its approximately 1,400-vehicle North American fleet running on natural gas, as well as 15 drilling rigs. The company continues to further expand its conversion program.
Beginning in 2012, Encana Natural Gas expects to offer the Strathmore station’s fueling services to other corporate fleets in the area.
This past summer saw the opening of Encana Natural Gas CNG stations in Fort Lupton, Colo., and Sierra, British Columbia. Encana Natural Gas also has an operational CNG station in Parachute, Colo., as well as in Red River Parish, La.
