ITASCA, IL – EMKAY, Inc. marked the first-year anniversary for their Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) company partnership. Last June, Emkay announced they were acknowledged as the first fleet management company to factory order the GEM vehicles. The GEM is a battery-electric vehicle manufactured by Global Electric Motorcars and are commonly used in cities, master planned communities, universities and colleges, industrial complexes, security companies, airports, and resorts.
The GEM was the first multipurpose neighborhood electric vehicle available for sale from a major automaker. GEM vehicles are engineered to meet federal safety requirements for street-legal operation as a low-speed vehicle. GEM vehicles can be driven on most public roads that are posted at 35 mph or less, in states that have approved the use of neighborhood electric vehicles. The batteries for the GEM are charged with an onboard charger that plugs into a standard 110-volt outlet.
