McKINNEY, TX --- Emission Solutions Inc. (ESI), a Texas-based manufacturer of natural gas engines for trucks and buses, announced it has received its 2010 certificate of conformance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its 2010 California Air Resources Board (CARB) executive order for its 7.6-liter natural gas engines. 

These clean-burning natural gas engines are now available for new medium/heavy-duty trucks and buses, dump trucks, refuse trucks, and as an easily installed replacement engine for International Truck school buses, dump trucks and refuse trucks using DT466 engines. 

The 2010 EPA and CARB emissions certifications establish the engines' eligibility as an approved emission reduction strategy for the EPA Diesel Emission Reduction Program, as well as for the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities grant program. As a result, fleets may take advantage of the new large EPA and Department of Energy grant programs, part of President Obama's economic stimulus package, to repower their older diesel trucks and buses with ESI's natural gas engines, or to purchase new natural gas vehicles with these engines. 

The Internal Revenue Service has also issued a new letter affirming the eligibility of the ESI engines for the maximum-available federal tax credit of $32,000/engine. 

"Using only a three-way passive catalyst and our patented technology to achieve 2010 compliance is a huge benefit to fleet operators by eliminating the need for expensive and difficult-to-maintain exhaust aftertreatment," said Jim Moore, ESI's president. 

The newly certified engines provide comparable horsepower, torque and fuel economy to the original diesel-powered vehicles, while reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) by up to 95 percent, particulate matter by up to 90 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by up to 25 percent. The new 7.6 liter engine offerings include horsepower ranges from 175-300hp with torque availability from 460-900 lb-ft. 

Incorporated in 2003 and located in McKinney, Texas, ESI is a heavy-duty dedicated natural gas engine manufacturer. Installations of its engines are operating in fleet service nationwide in new International trucks and buses, as well as late-model International trucks and buses.
