California's Gov. Jerry Brown has signed several pieces of legislation that will bolster alternative fuel and technology vehicles by 2023.
Gov. Brown signed a bill on Sept. 21 that sets in motion his goal to have 1 million zero-emission or near-zero-emission vehicles on the road in the next decade. The legislation directs the state's Air Resources Board to draft a financial plan to meet that goal, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Brown also signed a bill that would increase the allowed number of battery-electric vehicles using the carpool lane from 55,000 to 70,000 cars. By increasing this number by 15,000, the state would issue additional stickers to drivers, according to a press release from Brown's office. Fleet vehicles are eligible for the program.
