Ameripride Services, a uniform rental and linen supply company, implemented a plan to replace 20% of the fleet at one of its branches with electric delivery trucks equipped with Motiv Power Systems all-electric powertrains, the company announced.
The new delivery vehicles feature up to 80 miles of range and a 50% battery charge time of 2.5 hours. Ten of the electric walk-in vans will reside at the branch, which is located in Vernon, Calif. One of the vehicles has been in use at the facility since November.

The electric delivery trucks are installed on a Ford F-59 chassis, and they are the first vehicles by Motiv Power Systems to be installed on a previously-used body. Motiv also has upfit packages available for the Ford E-450 and Crane Carrier COE2 Class chassis.
The Vernon branch was chosen by Ameripride due to the route density and infrastructure, financial incentives and the region’s poor air quality. An open house for the vehicle will be held at the Vernon branch on Feb. 18.
The company also has plans to implement propane, compressed natural gas and hybrid vehicles; trailer skirting and double-decker semi-trailers; fuel efficient and the installation of telematics technology and route optimization software.
