Driving Dynamics, Inc. has expanded its entry-level commercial driver's license course to a sixth campus of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, the Newark, Del.-based safety training provider announced.
The course (CDL-A), which will now be offered at the college's Anderson campus, will be a part of the company's Center for Transportation Safety's Driving Academy curriculum. The CDL preparatory course teaches skills that makes its students more competitive in the job market.
The move expands the course, which is also offered at the Indiana County Technology Center in Pennsylvania. Ivy Tech has been offering it as its campuses in Terre Haute, Fort Wayne, Frankfort, Connersville, and Lawrenceburg Lakefront.
Since 2014, the academy has maintained a 100% passing and job placement rate, according to the company. Ivy Tech is the nation's largest singly accredited statewide community college.
"Driving Dynamics has been great partners, and we look forward to continue working to solve the state's CDL driver shortage," said Aaron Baute, vice president at Ivy Tech. "The engagement and support we have gotten from CTS with our employer focus groups, the Department of Workforce Development, and the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has been substantial."
