Dallas Adds 99 CNG Trucks, Vans

The City of Dallas is continuing its transition to a greener fleet with the recent purchase of 99 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and vans.

The City of Dallas is continuing its transition to a greener fleet with the recent purchase of 99 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and vans.

These vehicles being purchased are 65 Ford F-150 trucks, four F-250 trucks, and 30 E-250 vans. These units will be used by various core departments providing field services to the public, such as Code Compliance, Street Services, Dallas Water Utilities, Public Works, Park and Recreation, Police, and Building Services, Cheritta Johnson, Dallas' assistant director of Equipment Services.

These vehicles will be an addition to the 1,009 CNG vehicles the city already has. CNG vehicles are currently fueled at two city-owned fueling stations and through Clean Energy stations in the Dallas area.

"Green" fleet vehicles (CNG, hybrid electric, plug-in electric, and biodiesel vehicles) represent 38 percent of the city's fleet inventory.
