Cummings Mobility Recalls Vans for Wheelchair Lifts
The recalled modified vans have Ricon-manufactured wheelchair lifts at risk for cracking.

Cummings Mobility Conversion & Supply is recalling 39 modified vans because their Ricon-manufactured wheelchair lifts are at risk for cracking, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
The recall affects modified Ford E-150, E-250 and E-350 vans, Chevrolet Express vans, Dodge Sprinter vans, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and Ford Transit Connect vans equipped with certain wheelchair lifts that Ricon Corp. manufactured after Jan. 1, 2006.
The platform side plate of the wheelchair lift may crack, causing the platform to separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle’s lift door. When the doors open, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator, NHTSA said.
Ricon dealers and service centers will make the necessary repairs, free of charge. The remedy involves installing supplemental platform support bumpers.
