CULVER CITY, CA - The City of Culver City announced the delivery of the second cycle of dedicated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered front loading refuse trucks to its fleet. The new trucks are replacing eight-year-old CNG front loaders, making Culver City one of the first municipalities to replace CNG refuse trucks with new CNG vehicles, according to a news release.
The trucks are mounted on an Autocar chassis and equipped with Amrep bodies and AFV fuel systems. They use the Cummins ISL-G CNG engine at 320hp. The Carmenita Truck Center vendor team worked closely with city staff to ensure the city's needs were being met. Los Angeles Freightliner will be providing after-sales service and support.
Culver City is progressive in the use and application of CNG and alternatively powered vehicles, especially in the heavy-duty applications. Culver City was awarded the #1 Best Green Fleet Award in North America in 2009 for its leadership in alternative fuels, sustainability efforts, and paving the way for new green synergies.
