CNG Station Planned for Fleet in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

GULF BREEZE, FL – The city of Gulf Breeze, Fla., is finalizing plans for construction of a compressed natural gas fueling station at the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to fueling city fleet vehicles, the station will also be open to the public, the Pensacola News Journal reported.
The station is due to open by May. The city has plans to purchase three CNG-powered Chevrolet vans for its fleet, the newspaper reported.
Before the end of this month, the Gulf Breeze City Council is expected to select the project contractor. City staff has recommended ZeitEnergy, based in Dallas.
Funding for the station will include Hurricane Ivan recovery money from 2004 – a move approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This money was originally set aside to replace the city’s fishing pier.
Nearby, the city of Pensacola and the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority are also taking steps to convert fleet vehicles to compressed natural gas.
