EL PASO, TEXAS – The City of El Paso, Texas, has awarded Mansfield Energy Corp. a contract for the design, construction, and operations of three compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations to service city-owned and leased vehicles.
These station locations include the airport site located at Montana Avenue and Global Reach Drive at the City of El Paso International Airport, the LIFT site located at 5081 Fred Wilson Avenue, and the MSC site located at 1059 Lafayette Drive in El Paso.
Mansfield Energy Corp. was recommended to the City Council by the Engineering and Construction Management Department as the highest ranked proposer based on evaluation criteria stipulated in the solicitation, according to the company. The contract with Mansfield will be for an initial term of 10 years to operate and maintain the three fuel processing facilities on property leased from the City of El Paso for the fueling of the City of El Paso-owned and contracted vehicles.
“We are thrilled to begin working on this project with the City of El Paso. Our expertise and experience building and servicing CNG stations for many city and county governments allows us to promote environmentally-sound initiatives while lowering our customers’ annual fuel costs,” stated J. Alexander, president of Mansfield Energy.
“We are excited to collaborate with Mansfield to implement this unique project and look forward to a long, successful partnership. We hope this project opens the door to everyday use of natural gas as a transportation fuel in the El Paso region. Alternative fuels are a key element of the City's strategy to move towards sustainability,” said Marty Howell, director of Economic Development and Sustainability, the City of El Paso.
The design, construction, installation, and startup of this project will be managed by Mansfield Gas Equipment Systems Corporation, one of the operating subsidiaries of Mansfield Energy, in addition to local partners such as Bath Engineering Corporation and The Garrick Group, Inc.
