LAS VEGAS – Chrysler announced that its dealers can now "activate" a navigation system, after the purchase of the vehicle, on vehicles equipped with specific Uconnect systems. According to Chrysler, dealers will be able to activate this feature on vehicles any time after purchase.
The automaker said because not all customers choose to buy navigation as an option at the time of purchase, they wanted to give them a way to get this feature at a later date without having to install an aftermarket system.

Chrysler said that because the hardware needed for the navigation system is already in Uconnect-equipped vehicles, the dealer-activated navigation system functions the same as if the customer had chosen navigation as an option at the time of purchase.
The system provides the same map data as pre-installed systems, including voice commands, points of interest, junction views, lane guidance, speed limit information, intersection zoom, and trip programming. It also provides turn-by-turn audio instructions, just like the pre-installed navigation system.
This feature will initially be available on the 2013 Ram 1500 full-size pickup, the 2014-MY Fiat 500L, and on the SRT Viper.
