WASHINGTON – Chrysler Group is recalling 44,300 Dodge Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota trucks because a rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to a lack of adhesive. This condition could trigger a potential loss of vehicle control with little warning, the NHTSA reported.
To remedy the problem, Chrysler dealers will install a pinion nut retainer. There will be no charge for this service. The recall covers Dodge Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota trucks manufactured from July 1, 2009 through Nov. 30, 2009.
