In recognition of its continuing support for arts and culture in the State of Michigan, the Chrysler Group is the recipient of the Business Honor Roll Award from ArtServe Michigan, a statewide nonprofit arts organization. The award was presented Tuesday at the 17th Annual Governors’ Awards for Arts & Culture in Dearborn, MI.
According to Barbara Kratchman, president of ArtServe Michigan, the Chrysler Group has an exemplary record of supporting community-based arts organizations. “Local grant programs are often the first to experience cuts when economic downturns occur. Despite the economic conditions impacting our state and national economy, the Chrysler Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to the community by retaining its level of support for local arts and cultural organizations,” she said.
Kratchman cited the automaker's support of major cultural attractions, such as “Degas and the Dance,” a major retrospective of works by master impressionist Edgar Degas now at the Detroit Institute of the Arts (DIA), as an example of Chrysler Group's ongoing support for arts and culture in Michigan.
