Chrysler Group employees presented Lighthouse Emergency Services, a subsidiary of Lighthouse of Oakland County, MI, with an early holiday gift of more than 15,000 pounds of food on November 21. The goods were collected during a 20-day Fall Harvest Food Drive in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the minivan. The Food Drive was held at the automaker's Auburn Hills, Mich., headquarters. "This contribution is a way for our employees to demonstrate their commitment to the community and to organizations like Lighthouse that support needy families in Oakland County," said Nancy Rae, Chrysler Group senior vice president -- human resources. In addition to the donation of the non-perishable food, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund contributed $5,000 to Lighthouse so that turkeys could be provided to families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday. "We are honored that Chrysler Group chose Lighthouse as the beneficiary of their Fall Harvest Food Drive," said Emily Nadeau, executive director, Lighthouse Emergency Services. "Many thanks to the Chrysler Group employees for their support at such a critical time, when demand for help is so high and overall donations are down. This tremendous donation will give hundreds of families a warm Thanksgiving meal." For the past several years, Chrysler Group's engineering organization has spearheaded the Fall Harvest Food Drive. Last year, Lighthouse distributed baskets to more than 6,000 adults, seniors and children throughout Oakland County.
